My Story

The path that led me here.

I'm a Licensed Clinical & Forensic Neuropsychologist (PSY35915) and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA #1-19-35746), specializing in comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations across the lifespan — children, teens, and adults — alongside individualized therapy and forensic / IME work.

My training is grounded but unusual in its breadth: a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology (Magna Cum Laude), a Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied Behavior Analysis, and advanced training in school neuropsychology. I also serve as an Assistant Professor of Behavior Analysis at National University.

I'm a queer, neurodiversity-affirming clinician — proud to provide a safe, inclusive space for all clients, including LGBTQ+ individuals and families. My work is grounded in clinical precision, deep compassion, and a commitment to creating clarity in even the most complex diagnostic questions.

How I work

Rooted in Connection.

My practice is built on the foundation of genuine human connection. I move away from rigid, overly pathologized frameworks, leaning instead into a space where you can unfold naturally.

We explore the nuances of your story with curiosity rather than judgment. It's about creating a living-room atmosphere — warm, grounded, and deeply intentional.

  • Attunement over agenda

I follow your pace, not a treatment manual. We move at the speed of what feels safe.

  • Curiosity over judgment

We get curious about patterns, the inner critic, and your reactions — without making them wrong.

  • Whole-person care

Mind, body, history, and present life are all connected. We treat them that way.

Beyond the office

When I'm not in session.

The rituals and small things that keep me grounded — so I can show up steady for the people I sit with.

An open journal and pen resting on a warm wooden surface in soft morning light

Morning quiet

A slow start with tea and a journal. The day works better when I begin by listening.

A wide warm landscape in golden hour light — open horizon and quiet sky

Coastal walks

California's edges are my favorite. Salt air and a long shoreline put everything back in proportion.

A small stack of fabric-bound books with a sprig of dried eucalyptus resting on top

Books on the table

Always a stack: writing on attachment, a poetry collection, and a novel I'm half-rereading.

Soft, sunlit interior with a calm meditative atmosphere

Slow Sundays

A ritual of nothing-much: family, a film, a long bath. Rest is a practice, not a reward.

“Healing isn't about fixing what is broken. It's about staying close to what is hurting until it feels safe to breathe again.”

— Dr. Lindsay Campbell

The Team

You're not only in my care.

The practice has grown to include a clinician whose work I trust deeply — so there is more than one door into the same standard of care.

Cassandra Holt Kimbell

Psychological Associate # PSB94029504, under supervision of Dr. Lindsay Campbell, PSY35915

Cassandra Holt Kimbell, LPC-S, NCC is the owner and lead therapist at Freestyle Therapy LLC. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Colorado, and an LPCC Supervisor in California — though not in a supervisory role at this practice. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate working towards licensure as a Psychologist.

Cassandra is a trauma therapist certified in EMDR and offers consulting and supervision. With a lifetime as a musician, she is passionate about offering workshops and groups addressing mental health issues tailored to creative and entrepreneurial fields through a neurodivergent lens. She specializes in providing EMDR intensives to help people get relief from distress as quickly as possible, as well as affirming mental health assessments to help people get the answers they may be searching for related to their diagnosis and how their brain works.

She utilizes an eclectic model, customizing her approach to best help the person she is holding space for at that moment. She utilizes neuro and trauma affirming CBT, Expressive Arts, and Somatic related approaches, collaborating with other practitioners to take a full person approach to trauma treatment. She focuses not only on the importance of individual therapy, but also creating a safe community around the client, believing every person deserves to feel they belong somewhere.

With the lived experiences as an AuDHD human with CPTSD, Cassandra specializes in the intersection of these diagnoses — but takes an affirming strengths-based approach vs. one of deficits.
